So to me it seems, staying up to date with OpenGL will cost you a new graphic card every year, if the current graphic card can't support the new spec (unless the company that made the card is choosing to not update the driver to support the new spec and are trying to force people to buy the newest one).

If it turns out that it can't, then keeping up to date with OpenGL will be very costly for users compared to DX12, which there is only a release every few years with a new OS.

Just looked it up and I see the performance issues of DX11, but I don't know if DX12 is really a dead end when it hasn't even been released yet and how people will react to Windows 10 (so far I have heard that people (on this forum) like 10).ДЄs for OpenGL keeping that up to date seems like a better decision for SCS since they are working with Windows, Linux, and Mac, but there is a new OpenGL Specification every year, and I don't know if a graphic card that is said to work with 4.3 will work with 4.5. Then again, maybe SCS will not have to update to DX12 (even though I would like to see what DX12 can do), if I understood correctly what DX11.3 is supposed to be able to do. But would this help increase framerate within cities or is it something related to just the game engine?ДЄnd finally, with OpenGL, can a graphic card like the R9 290 that is said to support OpenGL 4.3 (then I read about something elsewhere about it supporting 4.4 as well, not in below link), could its driver be updated to support OpenGL 4.5? I personally would be willing to pay to have such support added to the game. Or would we have to wait till future games? And how hard will it be to add fallback support? Is it possible for SCS to add DX 12 or OpenGL 4.5 to ETS2 or ATS? Since these API's are now focusing on efficiency, if SCS were ever to update to only DX 12 or OpenGL 4.5 (if they can) would the current game or future games be reverse compatible with older graphics cards that don't support the new API?
